Quintana Roo



Quintana Roo, state in southeastern Mexico on the Yucatán Peninsula, whose capital is Chetumal. The state, covering an area of about 19,387 sq mi (50,212 sq km), is a flat plain covered by dense jungle, with a hot and humid climate. Population is sparse. Quintana Roo became a Mexican territory in 1902 and a state in 1974.
