Pylos



Pylos (modern Greek Pilos, formerly Navarino), ancient port in the southwestern Peloponnese, Greece, site of a Mycenaean palace of the 13th century B.C., associated with king Nestor. In the modern Greek War of Independence, it was the site of the Battle of Navarino (1827).
