Psoriasis



Psoriasis, skin condition characterized by patches of red, thickened, and scaling skin. It often affects the elbows, knees, and scalp but may be found anywhere. Several forms are recognized, and the manifestations may vary overtime in each individual. Coal tar preparations are valuable in treatment, but steroid creams and cytotoxic chemotherapy may be needed. There is also an associated arthritis.
