Andries Wilhelmus Jacobus Pretorius

Pretorius, Andries Wilhelmus Jacobus (1799–1853), commandant of the Boers and Great Trek leader. His defeat of the Zulus at Blood River (1838) led to the founding of the Republic of Natal. He led the 1848 trek into the Transvaal.
