Porpoise



Porpoise, small toothed whale (family Phocaenidae), distinguished from dolphins in being smaller and having a rounded head with no projecting beaklike mouth. They feed mainly on shoaling fishes. The name is sometimes loosely applied in the United States to the various species of dolphin.
