Porphyry



Porphyry (A.D. 233–304), ancient Greek philosopher, author of Introduction to the Categories, a book which discussed how the qualities of things could be put into categories and groups. He studied in Athens before moving to Rome, where he became a member of the Neoplatonic group led by Plotinus.
