John Charles Polanyi



Polanyi, John Charles (1929– ), Canadian chemist. He shared the 1986 Nobel Prize for chemistry with U.S. collaborators Yuan T. Lee and Dudley Herschbach for his work in chemiluminescence, the faint infrared light emitted by molecules as they recombine. He is the son of noted chemist Michael Polanyi.
