Poinsettia



Poinsettia, name for a variety of spurges (genus Euphorbia) with colorful, attractive bracts (whorled leaves that enclose the small flower). A popular indoor ornamental plant with red, yellow, or white bracts, E. pulcherrima, native to Mexico and Central America, grows up to 10 ft (3 m) high in the wild. Propagation is by shoot tip cuttings taken in the spring.
