Plymouth



Plymouth (pop. 35,913), town in southeastern Massachusetts, the site where the Pilgrims came ashore from the Mayflower on Dec. 21, 1620, and where they established the second permanent English settlement in America. Among the town's historic sites are Plymouth Rock, the Mayflower II (a replica of the colonists' ship), and Plimouth Plantation, a reconstruction of the original settlement.
