Pinworm

Pinworm, parasitic nematode worm (family Oxyuridae) that infests the intestines of vertebrates. An infestation by Enterobius vermicularis in humans is characterized by perianal itching. The pinworm is the most common parasite infecting children in temperate climates. The parasitic relationship is seldom harmful, and treatment is usually not indicated. However, pyrantel pamoate will eradicate pinworms in about 90% of cases.
