Pike

Pike, carnivorous freshwater fish (family Esocidae) with ducklike snout and sharp teeth. The northern pike, or jackfish (Esoxlucius), lies in the rivers and lakes of the Northern Hemisphere. It grows up to 4.5 ft (1.4 m) long and a weight of 53 lb (24 kg). Northern pike are green with yellow spots, a color scheme that harmonizes with the weeds in which they lurk, ready to shoot out and snap up another fish, a duck, or even a muskrat. Other pikes are the muskellunge and pickerel.
