Pheasant



Pheasant, game bird of the 16 genera of subfamily Phasianidae, including partridges and the peacock. They originated in Asia, but are now found all over the world. Pheasants are ground birds that scratch the earth for seeds and insects. When they fly, they rise almost vertically on short, broad wings. Males are usually brightly colored, and many species are kept as ornaments.
