Perennial

Perennial, any plant that continues to grow for more than two years. Trees and shrubs are perennials whose woody stems thicken with age. The herbaceous perennials, such as the peony and daffodil, have stems that die down each winter and regrow in the spring from underground perennating organs, such as tubers and bulbs.
