Pemmican

Pemmican, concentrated food, used by Native Americans on journeys, consisting of buffalo meat, venison, or fish, dried and ground to paste, then mixed with fat and dried fruit and packed in hide bags. Hunters and expeditions still use a beef, suet, and raisin version of pemmican.
