Patricians

Patricians (Latin, “of the fathers”), in ancient Rome, members of the aristocratic class. In the early Republic the heads of the chief families dominated political power in the Senate. The plebeians fought for equality (500–300 B.C.), until the term “patrician” eventually became an honorary title.
