Paraná River



Paraná River, southeastern South American river, formed by the confluence of the Rio Grande and the Paranaíba rivers in southeastern Brazil. A commercial artery, it flows some 2,000 mi (3,200 km) south-southwest to meet the Uruguay River in Argentina (at the head of the Río de la Plata estuary). The Paraguay River is its major tributary.
