Otto I

Otto I (1815–67), Austrian-born king of Greece (1833–62). He was unpopular for many reasons, among them his attempts to discard the constitution, his use of German advisers, the loss of the chief port of Piraeus to France and Britain during the Crimean War, and failure to free Greek prisoners in Turkish-held Crete, Thessaly, and Macedonia. He was deposed by a military revolt.
