Osiris



Osiris, ancient Egyptian god, brother and husband of Isis, and father of Horus. He was killed by his evil brother Set but restored to life by Isis. His cult was important in dynastic Egypt and later became popular in the Roman Empire. A benefactor of mankind, Osiris was a ruler of the underworld and also a life-giving power, symbolizing the creative forces of nature.
