Oregon Territory

Oregon Territory, in North American northwest, area south of the 49th parallel, excluding Vancouver Island. It was territorialized in 1848 after the resolution (1846) of a boundary disagreement between the United States and Great Britain, both of whom dominated the region. Oregon joined the Union February 14, 1859.
