Old Bailey, main criminal court in London, England, on Old Bailey Street (a bailey was an area between the inner and outer city walls in medieval times). Trials heard in Old Bailey include that of the judges responsible for the death of King Charles I, Germany's World War II radio broadcaster William Joyce, and Oscar Wilde's on morality.
