Old Catholics

Old Catholics, group of churches that seceded from the Roman Catholic church. Some in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland would not accept the dogmas of papal infallibility and jurisdiction defined by the First Vatican Council (1870). Later, several smaller Slavic churches separated. Virtually high Anglican in doctrine and practice, Old Catholics have been in fellowship with the Church of England since 1932.
