Okra



Okra, or Gumbo, hibiscus plant cultivated in West Africa, India, and the southeastern United States for its fruits, which are pickled or cooked. They contain watery solutions of vegetable gum used to thicken and flavor broths. The seeds yield an oil and are used as a coffee substitute.
