O'Faolain, Sean (1900–91), Irish short-story writer, novelist, and biographer. Among his works, which often give an unflattering yet sympathetic view of everyday Irish life, are Midsummer Night Madness and Other Stories (1932), the novel A Nest of Simple Folk (1933), The Great O'Neill: A Biography of Hugh O'Neill (1942), and his autobiography, Vive Moi! (1964).
