O, 15th letter and 4th vowel of the English alphabet. It was the only Semitic letter (ayin) adopted by the Greeks, who called it omicron. It passed into the Roman alphabet as the 14th letter and was also used in medieval roman numbering to indicate 11. In chemistry, O is the symbol of the element oxygen.
