Nicholas of Cusa

Nicholas of Cusa (1401–64), German theologian and philosopher. He became a cardinal in 1440. Nicholas is better known for his interest in astronomy—he held that the earth rotates on its axis, that space is infinite, and that the sun is a star—and for his neo-Platonist writings on the limits of reason.
