New London Naval Submarine Base



New London Naval Submarine Base, submarine school and headquarters for Submarine Group Two, in Groton, Ct. The U.S. Navy has used this property since 1872—in particular for submarines since 1900. The U.S.S. Nautilus, the world's first nuclear-powered submarine (1954), was built and launched here. Today this base is home to the Nautilus as well as the Submarine Force Library and Museum.
