Bao Dai



Bao Dai (1913–97), Vietnamese emperor during the French colonial period. He was the last emperor of Annam (1926–45), until overthrown by the Viet Minh. He was later made head of state of aunified Vietnam (1949–55) created by the French in a final bid to retain Indochina, but he was forced into exile.
