Austerlitz



Austerlitz (pop. 5,000), town in Moravia in the southern part of the Czech Republic. Currently an agricultural center, on Dec. 2, 1805 it was the site where Napoleon's army defeated the combined forces of Emperor Francis I of Austria and Tsar Alexander I of Russia in the “Battle of the Three Emperors,” the beginning of Napoleon's mastery in Europe.
