National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health , NIOSH), U.S. organization responsible for evaluating all facets of work conditions for employees' benefits. It is a subsidiary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Safety codes, health hazards, and accident causes are examined, and recommendations for improvements are made. Investigators include all work sites in their research, and report data to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which enforces judgments made.
