Bay of Naples

Naples, Bay of, bay of the Tyrrhenian Sea (arm of the Mediterranean west of Italy), southwest of Naples. It is 20 mi (32 km) wide from Cape Miseno to Point Campanella and penetrates the land 10 mi (16 km). Along its shoreline are the ancient Roman ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
