Atahualpa



Atahualpa (1500–33), last Inca emperor of Peru. After holding power only in Quito, Atahualpa deposed his half brother Huascar as heir of the Inca kingdom. In 1532 the Spanish conquistadors under Francisco Pizarro executed Atahualpa for refusing to accept Christianity.
