Aspen



Aspen, deciduous tree of the poplar genus widely distributed in north temperate regions, commercially valued as a source of pulp and matches. The best known varieties in the U.S. and Canada are the large-toothed aspen (Populus grandidentata) and the quaking aspen (P. tremuloides), a smaller tree with broad, delicate foliage that trembles with the slightest breeze.
