Asparagus



Asparagus, garden vegetable (Asparagus officinalis) of the lily family, a perennial plant cultivated for its tender stalks. A well-tended asparagus bed may yield heavy crops for as long as 20 years. The main asparagus-growing areas in the U.S. are California and New Jersey. One variety of asparagus is grown for its attractive foliage alone.
