Asp



Asp, Egyptian cobra (Naja haja) of the family Elapidae, an extremely poisonous snake up to 7 ft (2 m) in length. Considered sacred in ancient Egypt, it was, according to legend, the snake that killed Cleopatra. The name is also applied to several species of vipers.
