Aryan

Aryan (Sanskrit, “noble” or “ruler”), name originally applied to peoples who invaded the Indus Valley in India about 1500 B.C. As a linguistic term, Aryan applies to speakers of Indo-European languages. As a racial category—used by the Nazis to designate Germans and other North Europeans—the term has no valid basis and has been discredited as an instrument of bigotry.
