Aristocracy

Aristocracy (from Greek aristos, “the best,” and kratos, “rule”), originally, the ruling of a state by its best citizens in the interest of all; used by the philosophers Plato and Aristotle in this sense. The term later came to mean a form of government dominated by a small privileged class. Today the term refers to members of a class that has hereditary privileges.
