Aristides



Aristides (530?–468? B.C.), called the Just, Athenian politician and general, a founder of the Delian League. He fought at the battle of Marathon (490 B.C.) and was elected archon for 489. Ostracized in 482, he was recalled in 480 and helped repulse the Persians. Later he fixed Greek cities' contributions to the Delian League.
