Arachnid

Arachnid, insectlike arthropod of the class Arachnida. Spiders, mites, and scorpions are arachnids. While an insect's body consists of head, thorax, and abdomen, an arachnid's body has only 2 main parts: abdomen and cephalothorax, which combines head and thorax. Also unlike insects, arachnids have no wings or antennae, and they have simple rather than compound eyes.
