Apocrypha



Apocrypha, appendix to the King James Version of the Old Testament. Protestants use the term mainly for books written in the 2 centuries before Christ and included in the Septuagint and the Vulgate, but not in the Hebrew Bible. These include Esdras I and II, Tobit, Judith, additions to Esther, the Wisdom of Solomon, Ecclesiasticus, Baruch, the Song of the Three Holy Children, Susanna and the Elders, Bel and the Dragon, the Prayer of Manasses, and Maccabees I and II.
