Ankle



Ankle, joint connecting the foot and the leg. Sprained ankle is a common acute injury, causing considerable discomfort and disability. The ankle joint may also be affected in rheumatoid arthritis. Pain is often due to inflammation of the sheaths of the peroneal tendon and of the bursa.
