Angles



Angles, Germanic tribe from which England derives its name. Coming from the Schleswig-Holstein area of northern Germany, the Angles, with the Saxons and Jutes, invaded England in the 5th century and founded kingdoms including East Anglia, Mercia, and Northumbria.
