Ryunosuke Akutagawa



Akutagawa, Ryunosuke (1892–1927), Japanese writer of short stories, poetry, and plays. From medieval themes he turned to autobiographical subjects. His work's fantastic and morbid nature reveals susceptibilities that led to his suicide. His most famous story is Rashomon (1915).
