Agamemnon



Agamemnon, in Greek legend, son of Atreus and king of Mycenae who organized the expedition against Troy recounted in Homer's Iliad. Before setting sail he was forced to sacrifice his daughter Iphigenia. He was murdered on his return home by his wife Clytemnestra and her lover, his cousin Aegisthus. His death was avenged by his son, Orestes, and his daughter Electra.
