Iliad

Iliad, ancient Greek epic poem of 24 books in hexameter verse, attributed to Homer; internal references suggest it was composed in the mid-8th century B.C. It describes a quarrel during the siege of Troy between the Greek warrior-hero Achilles and King Agamemnon, which results in Achilles' brutal slaying of Hector, the Trojan warrior-prince. A companion to the Odyssey, the Iliad is one of the world's greatest tragic works of literature.
