Sherman Adams



Adams, Sherman (1899–1986), U.S. Republican congressional representative (1945–47), governor of New Hampshire (1949–53), and White House Chief of Staff (1953–58). Adams resigned from President Dwight D. Eisenhower's administration after political leaders condemned him for accepting gifts from industrialist Bernard Goldfine, who was under government investigation.
