Adam, Robert (1728–92) and James (1730–94), Scottish architect brothers. Robert's studies of ancient Roman architecture helped to inspire their joint designs of graceful interiors, furnishings, and buildings, notably Syon House (1762–69) and Osterley Park House (1761–80) in London.
