Aardvark



Aardvark (Orycteropus afer), nocturnal African mammal. Measuring up to 6 ft (1.8 m) in length and weighing up to 150 lbs (68 kg), the aardvark has a stout body with a plump, ratlike tail, elongated piglike snout, and large ears. It feeds on ants and termites, tearing open their nests with its powerful limbs and catching them with its long, sticky tongue.
