Mole, any of various small burrowing insect-eating mammals of the family Talpidae native to the Northern Hemisphere. Moles have spade-shaped front feet and long, mobile muzzles. Their eyes are small and often covered with fur, and they have no external ears, though their sense of hearing is acute.
