Joshua, book of the Old Testament, sixth in the Authorized Version. Joshua was the successor of Moses as leader of the Israelites. The book of Joshua describes his command of the Israelite armies in their campaign of conquest of Canaan and the division of the land among the Twelve Tribes of Israel. The Battle of Jericho was one of the major victories of the conquest.
