Dulcimer



Dulcimer, musical instrument consisting of a set of strings stretched across a thin, flat soundbox and struck with mallets. Of ancient origin, it is still used in the folk music of central Europe, where it is called the cimbalom. The Kentucky dulcimer, a U.S. folk instrument, is plucked.
